William Shakespeare




William Shakespeare was born in an English market town called Stratford-upon-Avon in the year 1564. His baptism was recorded on April 26, 1564, and in view of the fact that babies are usually baptized on the third day, it is commonly thought that he was born on April 23, though there is no actual account of this. Being the third child after two daughters that had died, John and Mary Shakespeare were worried that William would not live either. John was a rather flourishing glovemaker and trader of wool, hides, and grain


He wrote Romeo & Juliet between 1594 and 1595 and it was published in 1597. He became mayor when William was four years old. uses in Stratford and held several offices in town. From the summer of 1592 to the summer of 1594, the plague kept the London theaters closed most of the time, so Shakespeare turned to writing poetry. William left school when he was fourteen or fifteen when his father began to have financial struggles, which perpetuated the rest of his life. In those days, the school days were long and the boys primarily studied Latin and Greek literature. When the theaters finally reopened, Shakespeare turned back to writing plays. She gave birth to a daughter, Susanna, six months later. Shakespeare's mother, Mary Arden, the daughter of a landowner, had five more children after William. By 1592, Shakespeare was fairly well known and recognized as an actor and a playwright. On November 27 a license was issued for the marriage of William Shakespeare to Anne Hathaway. What William did in the years following his departure of school are unknown. During the late 1580s and early 1590s, Shakespeare traveled back and forth between London and Stratford-on-Avon. Shakespeare did not engage in any further formal education: he never attended a university and was not considered to be a truly educated man
